Twiggy's Page

Twiggy was born on 4-27-24 and was less than 1 pound at birth; thus started the saga of Twiggy. She was so frail and weak that I never really thought she would make it. After a few days of tube feeding and round the clock care, she finally was able to take a bottle every few hours. Since this occurred during the height of our show season, Twiggy became a tag-along and got to spend a couple of nights in hotels with us much to the grandkids' delight.

I had high hopes that Twiggy would join our herd and become a show goat. Unfortunately, one morning as I was leaving on a real estate scouting trip I thought Twiggy was with the dogs as per usual but she was right in front of the front tire and was ran over. This was a very traumatic event for which I still have not forgiven myself. She suffered some broken ribs, internal bruising and a broken head of her femur which was not noted at first. Subsequent xrays revealed the break and I was advised to amputate her left hind leg. However, I opted to wait on that to see how she would do. She is not completely sound, but most people would not even notice that she has a bit of a hitch in her get-along.

Twiggy moved to the new house and adjusted well as long as she was with the small pack of dogs here. She definitely identifies with the dogs and is quite a snob to other goats. She has always stayed in the house but has a terrible habit of eating anything with wires. She has destroyed numerous router wires, firesticks, camera wires, phone chargers, trailer wires, and the list goes on. She has also assumed the personality of the little pygmy mix goat (Kokie) we got when my daughter was 6. Kokie absolutely loved to attack people and now Twiggy does too. Most recently I investigated some loud noises to find a Fed X driver on the front porch trying to fend Twiggy off with a broom. So the hope is to integrate Twiggy with at least with one goat buddy. She is so attached to me its going to be hard but I'm hoping to find some happy medium. Meanwhile, Twiggy gets her own page because I love to photograph the world according to Twiggy.
